Ministry of Education: Changes to the Higher School of Performing Arts
Share on:

The Ministry of Education answers 25 questions regarding the bill for the Higher School of Performing Arts (A.S.P.T.), which aims to restructure higher artistic and musical education.

The bill seeks to address long-standing institutional issues, such as fragmented rules and unclear title classifications. The A.S.P.T. is organized as a unified A.E.I., connected to five public entities, maintaining their institutional and operational continuity.

Admission to the A.S.P.T. will not be through national exams, but through a special examination system that includes an in-person audition of artistic skills. A special regime is also foreseen for the teaching staff, taking into account artistic work and professional experience.

The bill also reshapes the landscape of Higher Schools of Artistic Education and Musical Education, with the aim of clearer institutional identity and greater regulatory coherence.

Other regulations of the bill concern school libraries, the International Baccalaureate in public schools, career guidance, secondments and transfers, academic equivalence and DOATAP, Greek-language education abroad, the State Certificate of Language Proficiency, the I.E.P., and beneficiaries related to the Tempi accident.
