Quarry Association Announces 48-Hour Suspension of Product Distribution

The Pancyprian Quarry Association has announced a 48-hour suspension of product distribution, starting on Monday, in solidarity with the quarries in the Xylofagou and Androlykou areas.

The decision was made during the Association's extraordinary General Assembly, in support of the Xylofagou quarries' strike. The Association points out that the delay in meeting the requests is due to the bureaucratic procedures of the British Bases, despite the positive stance of the Mines and Quarries Service.

The Association calls for the immediate intervention of the competent authorities to find a solution, warning of more drastic measures in case of non-response. According to the Association, the situation is causing serious repercussions for construction activity, a risk of unemployment, and undermining the economy.

The Xylofagou quarries are requesting immediate approval of the expansion, approval to start preliminary work in the new quarry zone, or the granting of a new area near the firing range.

The Association emphasizes that the crisis is an example of bureaucracy affecting the sector and endangering the country's economic stability.
