ACTTA: Concerns over potential tourism strikes in Cyprus

The Cyprus Association of Travel Agents (ACTTA) has expressed concern about potential strike action in the hotel sector. In a statement, ACTTA mentioned that it was informed about the joint announcement by the unions OUXEKA-SEK and SYXKA-PEO, which announced their intention to proceed with strike action due to the non-implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding for the renewal of the Sectoral Collective Agreement, signed on December 5, 2024.
ACTTA called the possibility of strikes during the tourist season 'inconceivable', stressing that tourism is a pillar of the Cypriot economy and vulnerable to destabilizing actions. The Association called on all parties to show responsibility and abide by the agreements to ensure industrial peace.
ACTTA stressed that even the discussion of potential strikes has a negative impact on tourism, especially in times of regional instability.
