Deadlock on Cost of Living Allowance (ATA): Strike Threat Looms

A meeting at the Ministry of Labor regarding the Automatic Cost of Living Adjustment (ATA) ended in a deadlock, with parties disagreeing on the payment percentage. The possibility of strike action is visible.
Trade unions are demanding full restoration of the ATA to 100%, while employers propose no increase in costs. The government suggested linking the ATA to economic growth.
The General Secretary of PASYDY, Stratis Matthaiou, stated that employers only accept a redistribution of current spending (66.7%). The President of DEOK, Stelios Christodoulou, called on the Ministry to submit a proposal to restore the ATA.
The Director General of OEB, Michalis Antoniou, stated that the dialogue must continue. KEBE expressed readiness for dialogue but concern about strike announcements.
A pancyprian meeting will take place on Monday to determine the further stance of the unions.
