Impasse on Cost of Living Allowance (ATA): Strike to Proceed

The planned nationwide strike for Thursday will proceed as scheduled, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, following the unsuccessful emergency meeting between the Minister of Labor and trade unions and employer organizations.

The Minister of Labor, Yannis Panagiotou, presented the government's proposal for universal extension of the ATA with tiered allocation, favoring low-wage earners, and linking it to inflation.

In a joint statement, the trade unions denounced that employers insist on changes that dismantle the ATA institution.

The Minister of Labor called for the avoidance of confrontational actions and for constructive dialogue.
