Foot-and-Mouth Disease: Retail Market Operating Normally, Traders Reassure

Despite concerns about foot-and-mouth disease, the retail market in Cyprus continues to operate normally. According to Marios Antoniou, General Secretary of the Pancyprian Retail Trade Association (PASYLE), there are no shortages or decreases in the consumption of meat and dairy products.
Mr. Antoniou emphasized that prices remain stable and orders continue as normal. He also mentioned that there is a plan to import products from abroad if necessary.
Kostas Leivadiotis, President of the Butchers Association, confirmed that the market is operating without problems. Marios Drousiotis, President of the Consumers Association, estimated that no major price changes are expected until Easter, but warned of a possible increase in lamb prices.
Traders emphasize the need to take measures to limit the spread of foot-and-mouth disease in order to avoid problems in the market.
