A large mobilization of farmers took place today, with tractors on the streets, demanding increased funding to support the sector. The protest reached the Presidential Palace and the House of Europe.

Dozens of tractors arrived at the Presidential Palace, where farmers submitted a resolution. The Director-General of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andreas Grigoriou, received the resolution on behalf of President Christodoulidis, stating that the payment of area payments has begun and that they will work for permanent solutions. During the statements, Mr. Grigoriou was verbally attacked by some farmers.

The President of the Cyprus Farmers' Union, Panikos Hampas, expressed strong concern about food security, warning about the import of products of dubious quality from third countries.

Meanwhile, farmers blocked a road in Paphos. After a sit-in protest at the House of Europe, the farmers left peacefully. The police were present to ensure the smooth running of the protest.
