Share on:

Workers at the Cyprus Electricity Authority (AHK) staged a three-hour work stoppage on Wednesday (March 18), protesting the lack of strategic planning in the energy sector.

According to a report by Omega Channel, employees expressed dissatisfaction with the accumulated problems and the deteriorating situation, with negative consequences for the economy and consumers. They denounce that previous mobilizations have not brought solutions and criticize the state for 'unrealistic proposals'.

Special mention was made of Cyta's involvement in the energy sector, with AHK employees claiming that Cyta is seeking profit without substantial benefit to security of supply. They also expressed concern about the stability of the grid and warned of a potential blackout, citing Spain as an example.

Workers are calling on consumers to join forces and are warning of escalating measures if there are no immediate steps and meaningful answers.
