EAC: Warning of Escalated Measures Due to Rising Costs

Employees of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) denounced delays and inadequate planning by the state during a three-hour work stoppage. This is the second work stoppage in ten days.
Kyriakos Tafounas, President of EPOPAH, stated that they would call on consumers to join forces with them to achieve cheaper electricity.
Employees referred to issues such as the upgrade of the power plant in Dhekelia and the implementation of central storage to increase production from photovoltaics.
They also highlighted the problem with water, stating that the EAC is forced to proceed with small desalination units, which will have an increased cost of electricity production.
The employees clarified that there is a convergence of views with the EAC management and warned that there would be an escalation of measures if the Authority's positions are not heard by the State.
