Inflation: Government Measures Under Review Due to Rising Fuel Prices

The Ministry of Development is on alert due to rising fuel prices following military operations in the Middle East. According to statements, a package of emergency measures to protect consumers is ready, including interventions such as capping profit margins and prices.
In three days, the average price of unleaded gasoline increased by 0.025 euros per liter, reaching 1.777 euros. Similar increases were observed in diesel and heating oil.
Deputy Minister of Energy, Nikos Tsafos, stated that the increase in the price of crude oil is not fully passed on to the pump, as taxes account for more than 50% of the retail price. The Independent Consumer Protection Authority has intensified market controls.
Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, assured that the government is monitoring developments and is ready to intervene to protect the economy and consumers, if necessary.
