AKTOR and BrightNest SHPK to Collaborate in Albanian Mining Sector

AKTOR and BrightNest SHPK have signed an agreement to collaborate in the Albanian mining sector. The agreement establishes a joint venture where AKTOR (through its 100% subsidiary, AKTOR Metal) will hold 51% and BNI Foundation, or one of its subsidiaries, will hold 49%.

The joint venture will focus on the research, development, and exploitation of mineral resources, including nickel and rare earth deposits in the Bilisht region of Albania. The estimated mining capacity is over 500,000 tons of nickel and over 25,000 tons of cobalt. The agreement also includes the development, construction, and operation of necessary infrastructure and processing facilities.

BNI Foundation will contribute existing mining licenses and related rights. The total investment is estimated at €1 billion, which will be financed through a combination of equity and external funding, mainly from US capital.
