Cyprus Industrial Production Up 3.4% in 2025

The Industrial Production Index in Cyprus recorded a 3.4% increase in the period January – May 2025 compared to the corresponding period of 2024, according to the Statistical Service.
The largest increases were recorded in the sectors of electronics and optical products and electrical equipment (+13.5%), water supply (+10.4%), non-metallic mineral products (+8.7%), mining and quarrying (+7.9%) and wood and cork products (+7.2%).
Decreases were recorded in the sectors of paper and printing (-14.4%), textile and leather products (-2.3%), chemical and pharmaceutical products (-1.4%) and motor vehicles and transport equipment (-0.9%).
In May 2025, the index stood at 113.7 units (base 2021=100), recording a 1.7% increase on an annual basis. In the manufacturing sector, the increase reached 1%, while mining and quarrying activities increased by 19.3% and water supply and material recovery by 12.4%. In contrast, electricity supply decreased by 1.2%.
Regarding manufacturing specifically for May, increases were recorded in the areas of electronic products (+8.7%), plastics and rubber materials (+8%) and timber (+7.1%), while significant decreases were observed in paper and printing production (-10.7%) and in petroleum and pharmaceutical products (-5.8%).
