Cyprus Businesses Savings Surge to €1.17 Billion in First Half

Businesses in Cyprus have experienced a significant increase in savings, reaching €1.17 billion in the first half of the year. In June alone, savings from domestic resident companies amounted to €465.3 million, according to data from the Central Bank of Cyprus.
Private deposits in banks increased by €654 million in June, with total deposits exceeding €1.66 billion for the semester. The annual growth rate of total deposits reached 7.1%, with total deposits reaching €56.6 billion in June 2025.
Households also increased their savings, albeit to a lesser extent, reaching €350 million in the first half of the year.
The Central Bank explains the increase in deposits as a result of improved corporate balance sheets and the positive macroeconomic conditions prevailing in Cyprus. The increase in deposits has been observed since 2024 and continues until the first half of 2025.
The sectors with the largest deposits are construction, wholesale and retail trade, real estate management, and professional, scientific, and technical activities.
Total loans in June 2025 recorded a net increase of €672.3 million, with loans to Cyprus residents increasing by €471.1 million.
