Hybrid Cars Surge in Cyprus in 2025

In 2025, hybrid cars recorded a significant increase in Cyprus, reaching 44.3% of the market share, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus. Simultaneously, the share of electric vehicles increased to 4.7%.

Conversely, gasoline-powered cars decreased to 42.0%, and diesel-powered cars to 8.9%.

The total number of vehicle registrations increased by 5.8%, reaching 52,508. Registrations of passenger saloon cars increased by 6.2% to 40,778, of which 14,633 were new and 26,145 were used. Rental cars recorded an increase of 32.4%, reaching 5,169.

Bus registrations increased to 181, while freight transport vehicles amounted to 6,208.

The main countries of origin for the vehicles were Japan (44.1%), Germany (13.0%), France (7.0%), the United Kingdom (6.0%), and South Korea (3.9%). White was the most popular color with 34.4%.

In December 2025, total motor vehicle registrations showed an annual increase of 27.1%.
