Andreas Matsas Re-elected as SEK Leader – Letter to EU on Wage Protection

Andreas Matsas will lead SEK for another four years, as he was the sole candidate for the General Secretary position. The SEK pancyprian congress will be held on March 11-13, with the possible presence of the President of the Republic.

The trade unions SEK, PEO, and DEOK are seeking a meeting with President Christodoulides to discuss labor issues, such as the minimum wage, the employment of workers from third countries, the extension of collective agreements, and the implementation of the Ergani 2 system. The delay in organizing the meeting has caused dissatisfaction among the unions.

SEK sent a letter to the President of the EU Council, Nikos Christodoulides, and other European leaders, asking them to prevent policies that degrade labor standards and to prevent efforts to reduce wages.
