The Department of Registrar of Companies is simplifying its procedures as part of the action plan for its modernization and reorganization.

The Council of Ministers approved on June 11 bills and regulations aimed at the legislative foundation of certificates issued by the department, the modernization of existing types, and the introduction of new ones.

The legislation was submitted to Parliament on June 19 and will be discussed in the Committee on Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism on June 24. Specifically, the bills approved were the "Companies (Amendment) (No. 2) Law of 2025", the "Partnerships and Trade Names (Amendment) Law of 2025", the "European Economic Interest Groupings (EEIG) (Implementing Provisions) (Amendment) Law of 2025" and the regulations "European Public Limited Company (SE) (Amendment) Regulations of 2025".

The new regulations include the development of new types of certificates, the redesign of existing ones, the online issuance and delivery of certificates, and the introduction of an electronic seal. It also provides for the issuance of certified translations.

The changes concern companies, foreign companies, European companies, EEIGs, trade names and cooperatives.

The implementation of the legislative regulations will take place with the implementation of the new IT system, within 2026, which is being implemented under the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Republic of Cyprus.
