€10.2 Million Compensation for Farmers Due to Drought

The Ministry of Agriculture disbursed €10.2 million in compensation to farmers and Producer Groups in 2025, due to the impact of the drought.

The payments concern 2,516 approved applications submitted within 2025, providing financial support to producers affected by the previous year's drought.

The support was implemented through Measure 23 of the Rural Development Program 2014-2020, covering sectors such as cereals, citrus fruits, olives, vegetables, potatoes, vineyards, avocados, and beekeeping.

2024 was one of the most difficult years for Cypriot agriculture, with reductions in production and quality due to the drought.

The European Commission also approved emergency aid of €3.5 million from the agricultural reserve.

The Department of Agriculture is monitoring the evolution of damages and evaluating the data for additional support measures.
