ATM: Fees Abolished from Monday – Transaction Cap Implemented

Starting next Monday, fees for cash withdrawals from Greek banks' ATMs will be abolished. Simultaneously, a maximum charge (cap) of €1.50 is established for withdrawals from third-party ATMs.
The regulation, passed on July 25, 2025, aims to provide immediate relief to citizens. Specifically, it provides for:
- Zero fees for withdrawals between banks within the DIAS system.
- Abolition of fees from third-party providers with a shareholding connection to the customer's bank.
- Zero fees in municipal communities with only one ATM.
- Cap of €1.50 for withdrawals from third-party ATMs nationwide.
- Free balance inquiries for everyone.
- Uniform charge of €0.50 for remittances via digital channels from third-party providers.
- Legislative guarantee that banks cannot charge for cash withdrawals.
Minister K. Pierrakakis stated that this intervention has a social character and eliminates unfair charges, ensuring citizens' free access to their money.
