Data ProTech: Supporting SMEs in AI and GDPR Compliance

An agreement for the Data ProTech project has been signed, aiming to enhance the compliance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Cyprus with personal data protection when using artificial intelligence (AI). The agreement was signed by the Data Protection Commissioner Irene Loizidou Nicolaidou, the Secretary General of KEBE Filokypros Rousounidis, and the Executive Director of the University of Limassol Ioanna Panagiotou.
The project is implemented under the European program CERV-2024-DATA, with a total co-financing of €250,000 and a duration of two years. It aims to support SMEs in understanding and implementing the GDPR [(EU) 2016/679] and the new Artificial Intelligence Regulation [(EU) 2024/1689].
A survey will be conducted on the AI usage practices of Cypriot SMEs, and an electronic self-assessment tool will be developed. In addition, training seminars will be offered to SMEs on how to use the tool.
