Two-Hour Work Stoppage at EAC on Friday

Employees at the EAC (Electricity Authority of Cyprus) will hold a two-hour warning work stoppage on Friday, February 27, from 08:00 to 10:00.

In a joint letter to the General Manager of the EAC, the trade unions ΕΠΟΠΑΗ, ΣΗΔΗΚΕΚ, ΣΕΠΑΗΚ and ΣΥΒΑΗΚ expressed their opposition to government policies in the energy sector and their impact on the EAC. They cite electricity shortages, rising costs, photovoltaic disconnections, and water scarcity.

The trade unions argue that this situation is due to erratic policies, a lack of strategic planning, and the inaction of those responsible. They also expressed concerns about competition from the Telecommunications Authority and pending labor issues.

Employees declare their determination to fight for the protection of the EAC and the interests of consumers.
