TSMC: Does Not Rule Out New Power Cuts Due to Temperature Rise
Share on:

The Transmission System Operator (TSMC) does not rule out the possibility of new power cuts if the temperature rises. The Assistant Director of System Operation, Charis Zavallis, stated that the decrease in demand due to the drop in temperature, the availability of a production unit in Dekeleia, and wind power generation have contributed to meeting electricity needs.

Mr. Zavallis noted that recent data indicates normal demand levels for the summer period, but the possibility of cuts cannot be ruled out in case of an excessive temperature increase. He also emphasized that the production units will need maintenance after the summer load.

Regarding current data, demand is expected to fluctuate around 910 megawatts, which can be covered by conventional production (1030 megawatts) and wind power generation (50-70 megawatts). The situation is assessed daily due to potential faults and unforeseen events.
