Free Use of Public Space for Cables
Share on:

Television stations, telecommunications companies, and internet providers use public space for cable installation free of charge, without the state collecting any fees.

Companies only cover the cost of works (excavations, undergrounding, restoration), but not the use of the space itself.

The issue arose after a Member of Parliament's question regarding state revenue from the concession of public space. The answer was that there is no revenue, as no usage fee is foreseen.

In municipal areas, municipalities issue permits, while in communities, the responsibility lies with the district officers. The works are carried out in consultation with the authorities and the cost is covered by the providers.

The state does not derive revenue from commercial activities served through the use of public space.
