E-kalathi: Which Supermarket is Cheapest for 267 Common Products?

The Cyprus Consumers' Association has published its first price assessment based on data from e-kalathi, the new digital retail price comparison platform launched on June 12, 2025.
According to data processed by the Association for the period July 29 – August 3, 2025, the comparison of 267 common product codes across five major supermarkets revealed the following total basket values:
- Sklavenitis: €926.52
- Athienitis: €979.49
- Ioannidis: €1,025.85
- Metro: €1,047.76
- Alfa Mega: €1,049.87
These prices are uniform across all stores of these supermarkets, regardless of province.
On August 3rd, the Alfa Mega supermarket offered 89 products on sale, Athienitis 16 products, while Sklavenitis only 2 products. However, of the 89 offers from Alfa Mega, 78 were higher than the corresponding regular prices of Sklavenitis and 60 higher than the regular prices of Athienitis.
The Association clarifies that all conclusions are based solely on e-kalathi records, without interventions or external analysis. It emphasizes that it will continue the regular processing and publication of its findings, in the context of transparency towards consumers.
