OEB Appeals for Resolution on Cost of Living Allowance (ATA)

The President of the Cyprus Employers & Industrialists Federation (OEB), Giorgos Pantelidis, has appealed to trade unions to exhaust all efforts to find a resolution on the issue of the Automatic Cost of Living Allowance (ATA).
Mr. Pantelidis called for a practical solution that takes into account the philosophy of the ATA and economic data, while maintaining a responsible stance. The appeal was made after a meeting with the Tax Commissioner, Sotiris Markidis.
The OEB President expressed his belief that the industrial relations code allows for the avoidance of strike action, as no deadlock has been declared. He highlighted the business community's participation in meetings to ensure competitiveness and the need to modernize the ATA.
Mr. Pantelidis stressed that specific views have been submitted to the competent authority and that the Minister has not declared a deadlock, relying on the constructive stance of the social partners.
