Customs Agents' Emergency Meeting on Saturday β Concerns from Shipping Agents

Members of the Customs Agents Association are reportedly reconsidering their decision to continue the strike, following a meeting at the Ministry of Finance. A new emergency General Assembly is convened on Saturday, according to the Association's President, Christos Akaros.
According to Mr. Akaros, several members have changed their minds regarding the impact of the strike. The General Assembly will be held at the Limassol Customs (port area) at 12 noon on Saturday.
The Association's leadership proposed a medium-term solution to change the customs clearance method, pending the new Automated Import System (AIS) scheduled for September 29.
The Association of Shipping Agents expressed strong concern about the impact of the strike, as it poses risks to the operation of ports and the supply chain, affecting trade and shipping activity.
The Association of Shipping Agents called on the competent authorities to take the initiative to resume dialogue to ensure the smooth operation of trade.
