Share on:

The digital work card is being expanded until 2026 in both the public and private sectors, aiming to increase transparency and improve the recording of overtime. Simultaneously, the new ERGANI II system is being launched, which is expected to simplify procedures and strengthen the control of the labor market.

According to data from the "Ergani" system, in the first eleven months of 2025, declared overtime increased by 53% in sectors where the digital card is applied, with tourism recording the largest increase (681%).

Currently, approximately 1.5 million workers are covered by the measure, which is applied in banks, supermarkets, insurance companies, security companies, public utilities, industry, retail, tourism, and catering.

With the expansion of the measure, stricter controls and fines ranging from 2,000 to 10,500 euros per employee are foreseen.

As of February 16, the new "ERGANI II" system is fully operational, offering simpler hiring and departure procedures, as well as direct access for employees to their data.
