Cyprus-Greece Electricity Interconnection Project Update

An agreement to immediately update the financial and technical parameters of the Cyprus-Greece electricity interconnection project was reached during the third intergovernmental summit in Athens. The aim is to attract new investors.

The leaders of Cyprus and Greece, Nikos Christodoulides and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, emphasized the strong relationship between the two countries. Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the countries' role as a pillar of stability, also referring to energy agreements involving the United States.

President Christodoulides expressed his satisfaction with the institutionalization of intergovernmental summits, and also referred to the coordination of Cyprus and Greece on energy and connectivity issues.

Issues of civil protection, combating crime, education, and the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU Council were also discussed at the summit.
