Rent Refund: Deadline Expires on September 30

Only a few days remain until the deadline for applications for the rent refund, which expires on September 30. Eligible tenant residents are urged to settle any outstanding issues.
The rent refund is established this year and will be paid annually every November directly into the beneficiaries' bank accounts. Approximately 950,000 tenants have until the end of the month to submit an amended tax return and complete code 081, which refers to the electronic lease number.
The refund amounts for primary residence are set at up to 800 euros per year, plus 50 euros for each dependent child. For student housing, the amount is also set at up to 800 euros, with no property limit.
Income criteria:
- Up to 20,000 euros for single individuals.
- Up to 28,000 euros for married couples or civil partnerships (+4,000 euros for each child).
- Up to 31,000 euros for single-parent families (+5,000 euros for each child after the first).
Property criteria:
- Up to 120,000 euros (+20,000 euros for each child).
- There is no property limit for student housing.
From January 1, 2026, rent payments must be made exclusively through a bank; otherwise, the refund is forfeited.
