Renewable Energy Companies Protest Production Cuts

Eleven companies with photovoltaic parks are forming a common front, appealing to the Administrative Court against RAEK and the Transmission System Operator for cuts in energy production from renewable sources (RES).
The companies are seeking the annulment of decisions and actions regarding load allocation and RES cuts, alleging that the European directive on prioritizing RES was not implemented. The companies' lawyer, ΙΩΝΑΣ ΝΙΚΟΛΑΟΥ, stated that the purpose of the appeal is to increase the penetration of RES into the grid, reducing pollution and costs for consumers.
The companies denounce a non-transparent method and insufficient justification, resulting in the loss of green energy. In 2024, 26% of their production was lost due to cuts, a percentage estimated to reach 40-50% this year, raising sustainability concerns. ΙΩΝΑΣ ΝΙΚΟΛΑΟΥ emphasized the need for cheap electricity and pollution reduction, while large quantities of RES are being rejected.
The companies also refer to the lack of timely promotion of projects and infrastructure to minimize cuts, such as the installation of storage systems and the improvement of the grid.
