Tax Reform Bills to Legal Service Next Week

The tax reform bills are expected to be sent to the Legal Service next week for legal and technical review and public consultation. According to ΚΥΠΕ, the Tax Department is finalizing the last details.

The goal is to submit the bills to Parliament after the summer recess. The bills amend four laws to incorporate the tax reform and are expected to be posted for public consultation around July 9.

Key aspects for individuals include increasing the tax-free income to €20,500 and providing tax deductions for children, loans, and rents, under conditions. For companies, the corporate tax increases to 15%, while the special defense contribution decreases to 5%.

Discussions are ongoing with the European Commission regarding green taxation. The government aims to implement the tax reform on January 1, 2026.

The preparation of the 2026 state budget is also in its initial stages.
