Cyprus Remains a Safe Tourist Destination, Says K. Koumis

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, has assured that Cyprus remains a safe tourist destination, despite international circumstances. The statements were made on the sidelines of the TUI Cyprus Marathon in Kato Paphos.
Mr. Koumis emphasized that tourism activity is continuing as normal, with over 2,500 arrivals from abroad for the marathon. However, he acknowledged that the recent conflict has caused some impact, such as losses of arrivals and a slowdown in bookings.
The Deputy Minister expressed the view that it is too early for safe conclusions regarding the course of the tourist year, as Cyprus is not involved in the current crisis and seeks peace.
Regarding the marathon, he mentioned that it is an important event for the country and that this year the TUI Group is also participating as an organizer. The program included a Marathon, Half Marathon, and a 10 km Race, as well as the 5km Sunset Run.
