Kerameos: Wage Increases Coming with New Bill

The Minister of Labor, Niki Kerameos, announced that the bill for the "National Social Agreement to strengthen Collective Labor Agreements" will be voted on next week. As she stated on SKAI television, this bill paves the way for wage increases and benefits.
Ms. Kerameos emphasized that the bill is the first since the transition to democracy that has been jointly drafted by national and social partners, i.e., representatives of employees and employers. Its goal is to conclude and extend more collective agreements.
The minister also referred to the consultation on increasing the minimum wage, while noting that the average full-time wage has risen to 1,516 euros. She pointed out that the goal is the continuous increase of wages and the reduction of taxes.
Ms. Kerameos stressed that there is social consensus on the bill, as society desires wage increases and collective agreements. The European Commission has described Greece as a source of inspiration for social dialogue.
