Keraunos in Athens: Meeting with the Minister of Economy

Minister of Finance, Mr. Makis Keraunos, met today with the Minister of National Economy and Finance of Greece, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, in Athens. The meeting focused on the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026, with emphasis on the smooth coordination of the economic and fiscal policies of the member states.

Mr. Keraunos briefed on the intention of the Cypriot Presidency to promote the deepening of the capital markets union, the completion of the banking union, and the promotion of the digital euro. Support for initiatives to strengthen the EU's defense and security was also discussed.

During the meeting, a review of the economies of the two countries was conducted in light of geopolitical developments, and ways to deepen economic cooperation and promote trade relations were discussed.
