CCCI: Hope for ATA solution through social dialogue

The Secretary-General of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Filokypros Rousounides, expressed hope that a solution to the issue of the Automatic Cost of Living Adjustment (ATA) could be found through social dialogue.
Following a meeting between the employers' organizations OEB and CCCI and the Minister of Labor, Yiannis Panagiotou, Mr. Rousounides stated that there has been a slight shift from the initial positions of the two sides, giving hope for finding a solution.
Mr. Rousounides stressed that the withdrawal of any measures by the unions would be helpful in order to create a climate of trust. He also mentioned that the dialogue should not be conducted under the threat of strikes or lockouts.
It was agreed to hold further contacts and information is expected from the Ministry of Labor. Mr. Rousounides avoided mentioning specific dates, as the start of the agreement, if any, will be January 1, 2026.
