Discussions regarding the future of the Automatic Cost of Living Adjustment (ATA) are ongoing in a tense climate. The Minister of Labor, Yannis Panayiotou, has called a meeting with employer and trade union organizations for Friday at 16:00.

The unions are threatening nationwide strike action starting Monday if no substantial progress is made.

The General Secretary of SEK, Andreas Matsas, expressed doubts to ΚΥΠΕ about the meeting's potential for meaningful progress, while the General Secretary of PEO, Sotiroula Charalambous, emphasized that negotiations are heading towards a deadlock without a new proposal.

The General Director of OEB, Michalis Antoniou, stated that an agreement could be reached quickly with a willingness to negotiate. The General Secretary of KEBE, Filokypros Rousounidis, warned that restoring the ATA to 100% could burden the state with €1.3 billion by 2027.

Friday's meeting is considered pivotal for the future of the ATA.
