Cyprus Below EU Average in Student Support: €691 per Student

Eurostat recorded significant variations in government support for students among member states in 2022. In Cyprus, support for tertiary education amounts to €691 per student, significantly below the EU average.
According to Eurostat data, the average financial support in the EU was €533 per student for upper secondary and post-secondary non-tertiary education, and €1,766 for tertiary education.
The highest support for tertiary education was recorded in Denmark (€8,024), Ireland (€5,692), and Sweden (€4,948), while the lowest was in Greece (€20), Croatia (€97), and Czech Republic (€115).
For upper secondary education, the Netherlands (€1,790), Sweden (€1,741), and Denmark (€1,644) had the highest support, while Croatia (€7), Poland (€16), and Hungary (€76) had the lowest. In Cyprus, the support was €79 per student.
In most EU countries, financial support was higher for tertiary education, except for Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Latvia, and Slovenia.
