Cyprus: Peak Electricity Demand Recorded on June 27

The highest total peak electricity demand for this summer season was recorded on Thursday, June 27, according to the Cyprus Transmission System Operator (TSO). Chara Kousiappa, TSO spokesperson, reported that demand reached 1,070 MW.

Specifically, the total peak demand reached 1,068 MW at 15:45 and 1,069 MW at 16:00. Ms. Kousiappa noted that the penetration of RES exceeded 68% during midday hours.

Although there may be days with marginal sufficiency, according to studies, no problems are expected, barring unforeseen circumstances. An emergency failure occurred on June 24, but was covered by reserves.
