Cyclades: Indefinite strike at gas stations due to price cap
Share on:

Gas station owners in the Cyclades are starting an indefinite strike from Monday, March 23, protesting the imposition of a price cap on profit margins.

The gas station owners are demanding the immediate abolition of the price cap or its return to previous levels, proposing alternative solutions to protect consumers, such as reducing VAT or excise duties.

According to their announcement, the profit margin cap of 0.967 cents per liter + VAT is disastrous for the industry and does not benefit consumers. They point out that the increased transport costs and low winter purchasing power make the viability of gas stations in the Cyclades precarious.

The gas station owners have started the process of establishing a Cyclades Gas Station Owners Association.
