Cypriot ships in the Strait of Hormuz under surveillance

The Deputy Minister of Shipping, Marina Hatzimanoli, stated that 23 ships flying the Cypriot flag are in the Strait of Hormuz and are being monitored by the authorities.
In statements on the show "Show me the money", Ms. Hatzimanoli described the developments as worrying, emphasizing the importance of the Strait for global energy trade.
The Deputy Ministry of Shipping has issued instructions to the shipping community since June 17 and is in communication with the ships in the area. Ms. Hatzimanoli assured that there is no immediate risk of Cypriot ships being trapped, as they do not transport Iranian oil due to European sanctions.
The Deputy Minister stressed that the Deputy Ministry is on alert and expressed hope for a de-escalation of the situation.
The 23 ships include auxiliary vessels, tankers and general cargo ships.
