Cyprus' EU Presidency: Benefits for Hotels and Economy

Cyprus' Presidency of the Council of the EU is expected to bring significant benefits to the Cypriot economy, particularly to the hotel sector. Approximately 30,000 visitors are expected in the country, with 60,000 overnight stays, according to the President of PASYXE Nicosia, Christiana Iacovidou.
Arrivals have already started in November, with the main flow expected in April, May and June. Approximately 250 meetings and events will take place, including 27 high-level ones, placing Nicosia at the center of European developments.
Nicosia's hotels have prepared intensively, drawing on experience from the 2012 Presidency. In cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, renovations and recruitments have been made. Ms. Iacovidou emphasizes that the economic impact extends to restaurants, cafes, shops and other sectors.
The goal is for visitors to leave with positive impressions and become ambassadors of Cyprus.
