Cyprus Customs Officers End Strike, Return to Work on Monday

Customs officers in Cyprus will return to work on Monday, following a decision to end the strike that began last Thursday. The decision was made during an extraordinary General Assembly at the port of Limassol.
Association President Christos Akaros stated that customs officers will work with the new import system. The decision to lift the strike was unanimous, as they received written assurances that their requests would be met by the Ministry of Finance.
Mr. Akaros explained that the procedures for implementing the new system have begun, but the Customs Department will not be working over the weekend. A press conference will be held on Monday at the port of Limassol.
The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEBE) expressed satisfaction with the end of the strike, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in restoring normalcy to trade and avoiding similar situations in the future.
