Competent authorities are detecting seizures and reports of illegal animal movements. Speaking on 'Morning Route', the Minister of Agriculture, Maria Panagiotou, stated that no shortages of animals are expected in the market ahead of Easter, as the number of animals to be slaughtered is at the same level as last year.

Ms. Panagiotou assured that the government supports livestock farmers in restoring the animal population and addressing the effects of foot-and-mouth disease. She noted that, due to difficulties in importing animals from abroad, it has been decided to prioritize the purchase of animals from domestic units, and further reinforcement from abroad will be considered depending on needs.

The Minister of Agriculture stated that intensive inspections are being carried out at wholesale and retail meat distribution points.
