Greek shipowners have reduced shipbuilding orders by 70% compared to the first half of 2024, according to a report by Xclusiv Shipbrokers. This decrease reflects a wait-and-see approach due to global uncertainty.

Orders for dry cargo vessels fell from 30 to 3 ships, while tanker orders decreased from 100 to 32. A similar decline is observed in LNG carriers. The exception is containerships, where Greek orders increased.

The Xclusiv Shipbrokers report highlights a strategic realignment in the industry, as shipowners react to geopolitical tensions, volatile freight markets, increased shipbuilding costs, and a lack of technological direction for green fuels.
