Car Sales Decline in Paphos Due to Recalls

A significant decrease in car sales in Paphos has been caused by vehicle recalls, according to the President of the Car Dealers Association, Andreas Siikkis.
Mr. Siikkis stated that thousands of cars have been notified for recall, not only for TAKATA airbags, but also for problems with fuel tanks and brakes.
The delay in the arrival of new TAKATA airbags has created problems for importers. Some companies are replacing airbags only in new cars, while replacements for used vehicles from Japan are delayed.
The Car Dealers Association has taken action towards the state to expedite the arrival of new airbags in Cyprus, so that they can be installed free of charge in cars with TAKATA airbags.
Mr. Siikkis expressed concern about the large stocks of vehicles that companies have been left with, causing financial problems. However, car rentals remain satisfactory due to the tourist season.
