Aid measure for foot-and-mouth disease and other diseases approved

The State Aid Control Commissioner, Stella Michaelidou, issued a decision on 10/03/2026 regarding the Aid Measure concerning disease outbreaks mentioned in the Emergency Action Plan and the development of special programs.

The competent authority for implementation is the Veterinary Services of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. Beneficiaries are animal owners in areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus.

The measure applies to "Very Small, Small and Medium Enterprises", while large enterprises are excluded. The aim is to address disease outbreaks and develop special programs. Diseases included are, among others, foot-and-mouth disease and African swine fever.

The Union Legal Basis is Regulation (EU) 2022/2472. The amended Measure came into effect on March 13, 2026.
