N. Christodoulides: Economic Indicators Improve Daily Life

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, addressed questions regarding the relationship between economic prosperity and the quality of life of citizens during the Pancyprian conference of SEK.
President Christodoulides referred to the reduction of unemployment, the increase in the minimum wage, low inflation, and the high fiscal surplus as government achievements. He argued that these performances translate into cheaper borrowing, quality investments, and better jobs.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the 27 consecutive upgrades from Rating Agencies have a positive impact on daily life and allow for targeted social interventions, fairer tax reform, and investments in various sectors.
President Christodoulides highlighted the resilience of the Cypriot economy to geopolitical upheavals, compared to the economic situation in 2012.
SEK, on its part, continues to demand better working conditions, strengthening of purchasing power, and completion of the pension reform.
SEK's unified policy document emphasizes the need to strengthen collective bargaining, reform the pension system, protect dignity in the workplace, and ensure a fair digital and green transition.
SEK also underscores the need for policies on demographics, housing, traffic, and the environment.
