Pierrakakis: Acquisition of HSBC Malta by Credia Bank a Milestone

The Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, described the agreement for the acquisition of HSBC Malta by the Greek Credia Bank as strategically important.

According to the minister, the agreement highlights the dynamism and resilience of the Greek financial system. K. Pierrakakis emphasized that this is an important step for both institutions, as well as a milestone for the Greek banking sector, demonstrating the strength and outward orientation of the system.

Furthermore, the minister noted that the transaction strengthens the ties between Greece and Malta, deepening bilateral relations and contributing to closer cooperation in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean. He also expressed confidence that Credia Bank's experience will benefit customers, employees and the economies of Greece and Malta, strengthening the European financial market.
