The Cyprus Transmission System Operator (ΔΣΜΚ) warns of potential power cuts due to marginal coverage of electricity demand, as a result of high temperatures. The warning concerns Wednesday, August 13, 2025 and Thursday.

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the National Energy Control Center (ΕΚΕΕ) proceeded with controlled power cuts to five consumer groups, lasting up to 18 minutes, due to a fault in a production unit at the Vasilikos Power Plant.

Two Medium Voltage feeders in Nicosia and Paphos were restored by local operation by the ΔΣΔ-ΑΗΚ, with power outages lasting 1.5 and 1 hour respectively.

For today and tomorrow, ΔΣΜΚ expects marginal demand coverage between 18:30-22:00 due to technical problems and temperatures up to 45°C. Power cuts of up to 30 minutes per consumer group may occur.

ΔΣΜΚ appeals for energy saving and assures that efforts are being made to restore the Production Units.
