Price Caps on 63 Products: Food and Essential Goods

The Ministry of Development has announced price caps on the gross profit margin for 63 categories of essential goods until June 30. The decision, published in the Government Gazette (ΦΕΚ), aims to combat profiteering.
The list includes food, dairy products, oils, meat, fish, cleaning products, personal hygiene items, baby products, and pet food. Fresh fruits, vegetables, and feminine hygiene products have also been added.
The price cap stipulates that the gross profit margin cannot exceed the average of 2025. It applies throughout the supply chain. The Independent Authority for Market Control and Consumer Protection will conduct inspections, with fines ranging from 5,000 to 5 million euros.
At the same time, maximum profit margins were also set for fuels, with differentiation for the islands due to increased transport costs.
