The Israeli Ambassador in Nicosia, Oren Anolik, expressed optimism about reaching an agreement between the Republic of Cyprus and Israel regarding the offshore blocks 'Aphrodite' and 'Yishai'. In an interview, he stated that the signatures are expected no later than the end of March.

Mr. Anolik emphasized that representatives of the companies also participated in the last round of talks, which contributed to the progress. He pointed out that the agreement will define the basic principles of the solution and will provide for the appointment of an expert for the apportionment.

Referring to the potential US military action in Iran, the ambassador noted that Israel is preparing for various scenarios and appreciates the possibility of understanding with the Cypriot government in case of a crisis.

Regarding EU-Israel relations, Mr. Anolik called on the EU to review them and talk to Israel as a friend and partner, while underlining the positive role that Cyprus can play as President of the EU.

Finally, he referred to the issue of Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories, stressing that the Israeli government advises its citizens to refrain from buying real estate in the occupied areas.
